Heresy? Who would openly proclaim to be a heretic, except, of course, for an apostate? It all depends on what we mean by heresy. In the sense mentioned in the Beecher quotation, I am not ashamed to be called a heretic. For all being a heretic means, really, is that I am not in power calling other people heretics.
